Joseph is a more natural frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much needed boost.

The band released Mindfields in 1999 and goes on a massive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they travel to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief hiatus, Toto resumes their recording and releases their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993.
